The sound of the sea, the mighty ocean cover the Earth, the lively life of aquatic creatures, not to mention the colours of the sunrise, golden sunsets and escapes to the island life and encounter villagers. There are endless reasons as to why I am head over heels in love with the ocean, what is yours?
From outer space Earth looks like an awesome blue marble. That’s because most of Earth’s surface—more than 70 percent—is covered by oceans. Although humans have not been able to fully explore the entire ocean, instead of feeling afraid of that majestic vastness, we should feel grateful. 50% of the oxygen we breathe comes from the ocean and they also consume carbon dioxide, transferring about 10 gigatonnes of carbon from the atmosphere deep into the ocean each year. This seemingly gentle but actually powerful water flow also plays an important role in regulating the climate. The ocean absorbs huge amounts of heat from the sun. That heat tends to be at its most intense nearer the equator, with the water nearest the surface warming the most. Sea currents then transport that heat around the world; north and south, towards the poles (*). The ocean calm our mind, relief our heart and also keep us alive, literally!
The beginning point of life is the deep blue sea and until now the blue sea is still the place that nurtures life. The ocean only brings us good things, but in return, the marine world is in danger because of human activities. Marine environmental pollution, near-extinction of marine life or rapid climate change are all red alerts to the life of the earth. The greatness of the ocean does not need our help; but, do not harm and do not destroy. Instead, let's learn to love the ocean, first of all to protect ourselves. Finally, to see and explore the endless magical colors of the ocean. There are many other wonderful things for you to discover.
Someday I want to live by the ocean in an old cottage with a person I love. We can wake up to the sound of the waves and drift off to the sound of our laughter.
