When I think of Phu Quoc, an imagine of a peaceful scene that only this southern island of the country has appears. At that time, I just picked up my backpack and left, don’t really care about money. But since the purpose of this trip is connect myself with nature, I have a chance to witness Phu Quoc rusticly, different from the flashy thoughts about this paradise island.

Step away from seeing my vacation as a checklist of things to do, and must-sees. Rushing from one place to another that only leave me exhausted. A shift towards slow traveling allow myself to smooth into the pace of the locals. gives my mind and body more peace and relaxation and let me travel at my own pace.
I always love these relaxed strolls through local neighborhoods, where I see the grandpas walking along the beach together. And where kids are delighted in finding and collecting pretty shells, then happily show off their “treasure” to their friends. The rides through the local trails are always so much fun, the air is fresh, the sun is warm and the wind hissed, I can clearly feel the the scent of the island from the grilled seafood carts by the sea. But the most memorable is still going to the morning market, sure it will be busy, but I get the chance to experience their culture and food in a completely different way. All of these moment make Phu Quoc turn back to a calm and rustic state gives your mind and body more peace and relaxation.
The landscape remains the same, it just changes when we see the world differently. Slow trave let me see things and enjoy things in a brand new way, and then makes me fall in love with Phu Quoc again, but with a peaceful, and familiar version as it is.
